Which (PC)

Lately, horror games have lost a lot of their “horror” aspect. Games are more action-oriented, which softens the pure scariness factor. Which, a game released over a year ago by developer Mike Inel, goes the opposite way. Can it compete against the big blockbuster games? The answer is: YES!

Which is a first person adventure game that takes place in the dark. You must make your way through the different rooms of a house and solve the mystery that haunts it. While the game doesn’t use any dialogue or text, it still successfully presents an interesting story. Clues about what is going on are scattered around the game, which gives the opportunity to the player to interpret . To avoid spoiling the game, I won’t go into any further details.

Which’s audio and visuals are perfectly crafted to create an incredible atmosphere that will scare most of the players. Subtle sounds are used to suck the player in such as squeaking doors, heart beats and footsteps in a way that not many games achieved so far. As for the visuals, the fact that you can’t see very far ahead of you and that the game takes place in a confined area builds the tension even more. While the visuals might not be the best we have seen in a game, but they fit the Which’s universe like a glove. In short, the game’s presentation is incredible.

While the game is really interesting, it is also very short in length. Depending on your ability to find items around the house, it will take you about 10 to 20 minutes to go through the game. Luckily, the game has two distinct endings. Even better, the game is available for free (yes, for FREE).

Which is an experience that only comes once in a while. The atmosphere is terrifying and only few games manage to make you jump out of your chair like this games does. No matter what type of game you usually play, you must definitely take a look at Which.

Which is available on the PC for free at http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/adventure/which/1523/.
